Since I can remember my exercise plans have only ever focused on my cardiovascular fitness. So although I would lose weight, I had always really struggled with toning up and becoming stronger. I found it difficult to know where to start with weights and I was really intimidated by the weights area of the gym and all those machines! My weekly 1-1 sessions with Ian have been INVALUABLE!!! Within 10 sessions I felt so much more confident, stronger and healthier. Ian has helped me to understand what I needed to do to get leaner and stronger (but still keep a feminine figure!). He knows what my limits are and makes sure that I always push myself as hard as I can to get the best results. I’ve trained with Ian now for over two years, including during lockdown! Ian is a great trainer and provided support and guidance to achieve my goals. He also gave me the skill set to continue training once our sessions ended. August 2017If anyone is looking for a personal trainer in or around Hemel I have no hesitation in recommending Ian Desmond from Masterplan Fitness. I have been working with Ian for the last 8 weeks to get me fitter, lose weight and build muscle mass all of which I am achieving. Ian will tailor your programme based on your goals and lifestyle. He helps with nutrition and makes sure every session is different whether it be in the gym or outside, weather permitting. Masterplan Fitness is based out of The Gym on Jarman Park which is one of the cheapest gyms in Hemel. He has flexible times for sessions (early mornings right through to evening appointments). Ian knows his stuff and pushes you to real go past where you thought your limits are. No pain, no gain as they say. The only downside is I have had to jot out a whole new wardrobe from the weight loss 🙂 Seriously though, if your contemplating taking the jump and getting fit, lose weight or get ripped ready for next summer then give Ian a shout

June 2020Ian is a inspirational, motivational & professional individual as well as a personal trainer. When I was looking for a personal trainer I spent a few weeks whilst working out at the gym watching how all the personal trainers conducted themselves, delivered the sessions & interacted with their clients this to get a better idea of who could offer me the best personal support. I was immediately impressed by the way he knew & understood each of his clients, their requirement & how to get the best out of them. There was none of that personal Trainer ego trip with him. His client based was a wide cross section of men, women, ages, body shapes those who were recovering from illness or injury. Most importantly they were all just treated with equal amount of professionalism with a personal touch by Ian. Ian has now been my personal trainer for nearly 3 years & during that time we have worked on my weight, healthy eating, cardio & metal strength to maintain this all. During this time I have had a few personal issues including to work which have heavily impacted on my physical & mental health. When I’ve achieved success with my weight or stamina whilst boxing or a pair jeans fitting again Ian was also just as very happy that we’ve achieved this as a team. During this time Ian had been exceptional in adapting my sessions & motivating me to stay positive whilst using exercise as a way to be mentally & physically stronger. I personally can not thank ian enough for being so amazing, supportive, motivating & challenging me when I’ve absolutely needed it

He made our sessions fun and gave me plenty of tips and nutritional advice. When I needed a little bit more motivation he was there supporting me and I know he will still be there in the gym when needed now our sessions have ended. Would definitely recommend him!!

August 2016I can’t recommend Ian enough. I have had 1-2-1 PT sessions at the gym and outdoor group Bootcamps with Ian. His sessions are always varied and well planned – He is professional, fun and always gets the best out of you. His Bootcamps during lockdown have been a lifesaver!

July 2020“New Year, New Start” – isn’t this what everyone says after Christmas? I know I did! I joined the gym in Jan 2017 and went to every class I could possibly fit in. I had gym buddies and we went every week. Work starts getting in the way though and you find the classes start to dwindle away. I made the decision to get myself a personal trainer which is where Ian came in. I signed up with a gym buddy and loved the 8 weeks we signed up for – so much so I signed up for individual 1 on 1 with him and have been ever since. He helped me build up my confidence and pushed me to my limits! I loved the push and could really see a difference to the starting weights and the weights I am lifting now. Ian hasn’t only pushed me to gym 4 times a week (2 with him) but has also massively helped me build up my confidence. On the 6 week challenge I really started to see a difference in my body shape – it showed on my first weigh in. I was amazed at how much I had changed in 3 weeks. I was so happy it gave me the drive to carry on working my butt off! Week 4 I became ill with a throat infection which has unfortunately haunted me now 3 times in the space of 6 weeks so my weight has managed to creep back up. I started back with Ian 2 weeks ago and soldiered through to my weigh in this morning – I had lost the weight that I had gained and have managed to build up muscle again. I’m so happy with everything Ian has helped me with that I’m continuously signing up with him every time my weeks are up! I’m a bridesmaid next year and Ian knows what my limits are so is pushing me to reach my goal – which I know I can do with his help. I would recommend signing up if you want to see a difference not only in your shape but in your confidence too. Gone are the days where I wouldn’t try the machines in case I looked silly trying to work it out! I’ll happily go in with a pair of headphones on and do my plan! Masterplan Fitness is the way forward for me!
